Meet Abri - a short bio
Since March 2016, Abri and his family have been residing in Auckland, New Zealand, where he serves as the Senior Pastor of the Mairangi Bay Community Church, a 106 year old multi cultural evangelical congregation. The congregation is made up of members from about 20 different nations. From December 2012 to February 2016, Abri served as the Senior Pastor of the Living Word Church in Mauritius. Over the years Abri has held senior positions in numerous organizations, focusing extensively on the personal and professional empowerment of people.
He enjoys helping individuals, businesses and organizations to connect with their redemptive calling in life, eliminating obstacles that hinder effectiveness and growth. This is done within the framework of Biblical values, morals and ethics. In 2014 Abri was awarded his Doctorate (Ph.D) in Biblical Studies after completing 2 1/2 years of research on the topic of "Life Alteration through GRIN Technologies". His thesis was entitled, "Altering God's Design", and addressed the complex issues surrounding the morals and ethics of altering life on earth through genetic engineering and other GRIN technologies. He argued against the advancement towards Transhumanism and the creation of new life forms, whether plant, animal or human, through GRIN technologies. Abri is also a qualified Chaplain and over the years Abri has traveled to more than 30 countries for business and church ministry related projects, which include Israel, Russia, America, England, Brazil, Holland, Belgium, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, Egypt, Greece, Malawi, Mauritius, Hong Kong, etc. Together with his family they have resided in four countries over the past 12 years.
Abri was born in 1973 in Durban, South Africa. After completing school, Abri served in the South African Defense Force (Air force) as part of his one year compulsory military service. In 1994 he enrolled in formal Theological studies and completed 4 years of full time studies, obtaining his degree in Religious Studies and fulfilling the requirements for graduation. During his studies he met his wife to be, Leoni, and they got married in 1996. In 1998 they moved to Pretoria and joined a church where they became actively involved in the missions departments' short term international outreaches program. In 2001 he received a call to a mega church in Pretoria where he served as the Arts Director and Senior Worship Leader, overseeing the worship, dance and drama departments of the then 17 000 member mega church. In 2007 he co-planted the Living Word East congregation in Pretoria where he served for 6 years. Abri and his family moved to Mauritius in December 2012 to Pastor the Living Word Church on the island.
Abri has a passion to see people intimately in love with Jesus and finds tremendous fulfillment in seeing believers mature in the Lord.
